Overview
A critically important and sometimes necessary skill for field-based mental health and outreach workers is the ability to calm both themselves and their clients during tense or angry encounters. In these circumstances, we need effective emotional control and the ability to de-escalate powerful emotions in others. This workshop will explore underlying causes of violence, and discuss effective strategies for preventing and/or responding to emotionally tense situations.
